Nuisance Birds We Manage

“Mike and his team are extremely knowledgeable on the bird species and are excellent in explaining their habits and behaviors. He educated me, the building owner and city officials so that we all had the knowledge we needed as we worked to get the birds and their nests removed from the property. Migratory Bird Management offered a turnkey service, keeping us up to date with their progress throughout the process this Spring and Summer. The team provided pictures and status updates after each visit. Mike even reached out to the City to keep them in the loop on numerous occasions. In 2020 they were able to humanely remove over 2,400 nests and 13,000 eggs from the roof top of the building. I could not ask for a better group to work with. If you are experiencing issues on your property with bird species, I would highly recommend you reach out to Mike and his team.”

“Last summer seagulls were all over our roof. They were very aggressive and diving at residents. My residents couldn’t enjoy their outdoor patios for fear of being attacked. Also, their droppings were all over our building. MBM’s recommendation to install the bird spikes has been very successful in preventing the birds from sitting on our roof. I have received numerous positive comments from my tenants and how happy they are to be able to enjoy their patios. Thanks for the recommendation to install the spikes. I wanted to let you know how successful they have been and how much our residents are enjoying being seagull free.”

“While geese are a protected species, and our firm is very environmentally conscious, as are many of our tenants, something needed to be done to control the goose population. Not only did they create a very messy situation on the boardwalks and sidewalks surrounding and traversing the courtyard, we had several “incidents” with the geese being very aggressive with people walking through the courtyard. MBM was hired to assist with the goose population problem. Within a few short weeks, with the aid of the trained dogs and a remote control boat, the technicians were able to reduce the population to only a few mating pairs. Their repeated visits to the site, both day time and evenings eventually caused the geese to become annoyed and leave the site. Their methodology of irritating the birds with light, sound and the dogs, without physically harming the geese allows for a solution that protects the wildlife, eliminated the nuisance situation in a manner that was acceptable to everyone. Thanks so much for your continued performance at our property!”

“We have intense bird pressure, primarily from starlings. Historically, we have used bird netting to limit loss and damage to our grape crop…netting is a big labor expense and the bird pressure was getting progressively worse… We lost 35 – 40% of our grape yield and were forced to pick earlier… In 2021 we installed two AVIX Autonomic bird lasers to cover our vineyard. We were able to let the fruit hang late and estimate total crop loss to be 3%.”

“It would appear that the gulls, which have menaced our neighborhood for the last five years, have abandoned the former grocery store building in Sheboygan as a nesting site this year. While about 100 or so gulls arrived here in March, it would appear that the deterrent methods employed kept them from roosting and nesting on the building roof. We have not seen but one or two gulls in the area the last couple of weeks, which is normal. Needless to say, we are quite pleased with this situation. We will be able to enjoy using our deck and yard this summer without having to hide under canopies for fear of being “bombed.” Nor will we have to power wash our deck and house weekly as we did in the past. Thank you for staying on top of this. We are much appreciative of your efforts.”

“Migratory Bird Management personnel are very attentive and detail oriented. They pay a lot of attention to fowl and how they react and bring that knowledge to the location. Support staff is always available and willing to help. The laser equipment is very durable and built to last. Ours has been up since October 2022 and has never been shut off. Highly recommend their services and equipment.”

Annually, Harvest Select Catfish experiences a minimum of $750,000 worth of damages to its fish from pest birds. “Since implementing the automated laser, we have seen an 80-90% reduction in the number of birds so far this year compared to this time last year. I’ve been impressed so far with the results.”

“The Migratory Bird Management team efforts have made our operations easier. By managing bird population and deterring birds from returning, we have reduced/eliminated the annoyances and dangers of birds affecting staff and vendors performing roof maintenance on our high rise, window cleaners propelling off the building and parkers at our open air six story parking structure. They usher you through the complexities of government requirements and do it with reasonable prices and great follow up. Any building that has birds posing obstacles should reach out to Mike and his team for assistance!”

About Us

Migratory Bird Management (MBM) was founded in 1998 by Susan Hagberg, who was managing commercial landscaping accounts in the Chicago’s commercial real estate market. During this time, Sue began to realize that there was a real need for Canada goose control services. As there were no options available locally for her landscape clients Sue took the initiative to research how to best manage Canada geese in an urban environment. Then, she implemented a business model that focused on providing safe and humane Canada goose control with the use of trained border collies to harass geese off properties. CLICK HERE to learn more
